Just a Farm Dream... That I Didn't Know I Wanted

Farm life hasn't always been the dream. As a girl, I dreamed of living in my great grandmother's house. It was fancy and I planned to live a VERY fancy life. Nice car, fancy clothes, and my nails always perfectly manicured just like my grandma. But God knew better.

About 5 years ago Rett and I purchased my great-grandmother's house... my dream home! We quickly realized we needed to make it our own. The 'fancy' home I had grown up loving was now ours to design. We traded out her glass whatnots for rusty antiques and it quickly became our very own 'farmhouse.' After we finished remodeling the kitchen and a bathroom I began to beg Rett to build a chicken coop, because what farmhouse doesn't need a chicken coop?

We purchased several chickens and this is where our farm began. Rett built a cute little coop, we raised baby chicks in our mud room, and learned to love the little creatures. Rich and Maddox spent their days toting chickens like babies and swinging them to sleep. The boys loved gathering eggs and really took a liking to the 'farm life.'

The fancy life I thought I wanted as a child turned into a farm dream. A dream of growing things. A dream of teaching our boys to love nature and protect it. A dream of creating something meaningful. I hope one day when Rich and Maddox look back they think... wow our parents taught us so much! I hope what we're teaching them helps them become successful men. I hope they learn to work for what they want and appreciate what God has given them.

So, back to the topic at hand. It all began with a 'fancy' farmhouse, some chickens, and a whole lot of love. It's a life LONG adventure and we're ready for the fun!
